TYPES OF
HAZARD/
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS/
SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible.
NO open flames.
Water spray, powder.
EXPLOSION
Prevent build-up of electrostatic charges (e.g., by grounding).

EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! STRICT HYGIENE!

  • INHALATION
  • Abdominal pain. Blue lips or finger nails. Blue skin. Confusion. Convulsions. Cough. Dizziness. Headache. Nausea. Sore throat. Unconsciousness.
    Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness. Pain. (Further see Inhalation).
    Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
  • Redness. Pain.
Safety goggles, face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
  • (See Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Give a slurry of activated charcoal in water to drink. Do NOT induce vomiting. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment (extra personal protection: P2 filter respirator for harmful particles).
Separated from strong oxidants, food and feedstuffs.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
WHITE CRYSTALS. TURNS PINK ON EXPOSURE TO AIR AND LIGHT OR ON CONTACT WITH IRON.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:
As a result of flow, agitation, etc., electrostatic charges can be generated.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
Reacts with strong oxidants, ammonia and amino compounds causing fire and explosion hazard.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
    TLV: 10 ppm; 45 mg/m3 (as TWA); 20 ppm; 90 mg/m3 (STEL) (ACGIH 1997).
    MAK: 10 ppm; 45 mg/m3 (1997).

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol, through the skin and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air will not or will only very slowly be reached on evaporation of this substance at 20░C; on spraying or dispersing, however, much faster.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the blood , resulting in formation of methaemoglobin. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization.
